ImacWindows Server is Microsoft’s operating system for servers. There have been six product releases under the Windows Server brand name, including Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2012. Active Directory Overview
Active Directory (AD) was created by Microsoft in the mid-1990s to serve as a directory service for Windows-based networks. AD is the technology that helps system administrators authorize, authenticate, and manage computers, groups, and users who access a computer network. It also stores configuration and other information for key Microsoft products such as Microsoft Exchange.

SQL Overview
First released for IBM OS/2 in 1989, Microsoft SQL Server has developed over the years into one of the leading relational database management system (RDMS) platforms for the enterprise for the Windows Server platform. The most current version is SQL Server 2012, which is available in Standard, Enterprise, and Business Intelligence editions.
